skype for business group chat not working

I figured I would ask the smarter community. Lots of people with this problem but no resolutions. I have searched the skype forums and had no luck. I did uninstall, reboot and reinstall and I had no luck. Same for the people I am trying to group chat with. Now when I click 'Help' and click 'get updates' it tells me I'm on the most up to date version. I am running Skype 6.18.59.106, windows 7 64 bit, I had the people I am trying to chat with upgrade their Skype installs. Also the group call and video call buttons are greyed out and I cannot select them. This as of now is a limitation of Skype for Business. It is by default in the control of the end user to make changes in the same. Yes we cannot disable the option of changing the idle and away time in the Skype for Business client.
